Der CVJM in Deutschland trauert um Egon Slopianka

Egon Slopianka ist heimgegangen.

Als erster Generalsekretär und Mitbegründer des europäischen Bundes war Egon Slopianka eine Schlüsselperson beim Aufbau des YMCA Europe. Er wurde 1963 als erster Bruderschaftssekretär nach Ibadan in Nigeria entsandt. In seinem Dienst bis 1972 trug er zur Gründung und Entwicklung vieler CVJM in Nigeria bei. Im Alter von 86 Jahren ist Egon Slopianka am 27.10.2013 gestorben.

Der Trauergottesdienst ist am Montag, den 4. November 2013 in der Evangelisch-Reformierten Kirche Ihrhove 13:30 Uhr (Denkmalstraße, 26810 Westoverledingen). Statt Kranz- oder Blumenschmuck wünschte sich Egon Slopianka eine Spende für die Internationale Arbeit des CVJM. Angehörige, Freunde und Wegbegleiter sind eingeladen am Trauergottesdienst teilzunehmen. Außerdem wird es zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt eine Gedenkfeier geben. Genauere Informationen dazu werden noch bekannt gegeben.

The YMCA Germany mourns the loss of Egon Slopianka

In his role as Secretary General and cofounder of the European Alliance, Egon Slopianka was a key person in building up the YMCA Europe. In 1963 he was elected fraternal secretary for Ibadan in Nigeria. In this position he contributed to the founding and development of many YMCAs in Nigeria. Egon Slopianka passed away on October 27, 2013 at the age of 86.

The church mourning service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Protestant Reformed Church Ihrhove at 1:30 pm (Denkmalstraße, 26810 Westoverledingen, GERMANY). Instead of gifts of floral wreaths and decoration, Egon Slopianka requested donations to be given to the YMCA for its international work. Relatives, friends and acquaintances are invited to attend the mourning service. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Notifications with detailed information are forthcoming.
